Over-Seeding and Slit-Seeding

In our area your lawn is comprised of "cool-season" grasses. These grasses take a beating from the summer heat. After all, by definition, cool-season grasses crave the cooler temperatures of spring and autumn. But there is something that can be done to combat summer's assault. It's called "over-seeding".

Ohio Lawncare Company's seeding services will increase turf density and improve the overall health and appearance of your lawn. A dense lawn is the best natural defense against weed and insect damage. As your lawn ages, individual grass plants weaken and die, which can result in a thin, unhealthy lawn. By Over-seeding or Slit-seeding you literally inject new healthy vibrant shoots back into the heart of your turf area.

Committed to Results

We are committed to providing our customers with the best lawn seeding results possible. Our process prepares the seed bed for maximum seed germination without damaging existing turf. The distribution process delivers exactly the right amount of seed to encourage plant development and lawn growth. Over-seeding immediately after performing triple core aeration can improve germination rates by 50% or more!

The Optimal Time for Over-Seeding Lawns

Fall is the best time for seeding your lawn. First, seeding will help influence the lawn's look for the following spring. Second, due to its warm days, cool nights and ample precipitation, fall is also ideal for proper germination and early turf development. In addition, grass seed sown in the fall can establish itself more quickly, due to reduced competition from broadleaf weeds. A drawback for seeding in the fall is waiting to long and sowing seed that doesn't germinate until the spring. This is called "dormant seeding". Excellent results can be had through dormant seeding but generally 50% more seed is required to get effective results.

Lawn Renovation

Additionally you may have an older, "tired" lawn that may require renovation. Renovation is typically performed through Slit-Seeding. This is where a device cuts grooves into the turf and simultaneously drops seeds into those grooves. This increases the rate of germination. The best time to renovate your lawn is during the fall and early spring seasons.

Dethatching (only recommended in severe cases), aeration, conditioning and/or reseeding your lawn in the fall is a great way to ensure your yard is healthy come spring. Additionally, you do not want to forget about a good fertilization treatment at this time as well, as this is the most important time of the year to fertilize your lawn.
